Journalist Khalilur Rahman no more

Veteran journalist Muhammad Khalilur Rahman died at his residence in the capital on Monday afternoon at the age of 79.
He was suffering from various old-age complications.
He left behind his wife, daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
After namaz-e-janaza held at Mirpur journalist residential area mosque, he was laid to rest at Kalshi graveyard.
Journalist Rahman served The Financial Express as a consulting editor.
During his over five-decade career as a journalist, late Rahman also worked for various newspapers including The Daily Star, The Telegraph, The Bangladesh Observer, Mukto Mantha and The Independent.
He started his career as a programme producer at Rajshahi centre of the then Radio Pakistan.
Afterwards, he joined Pakistan Observer on November 06, 1967 as a staff reporter and later became its City Editor after the paper was renamed as Bangladesh Observer after the country's independence.
Mr. Rahman joined The Daily Star when the paper was launched in 1991.
Mr. Rahman also joined The Independent as an advisory editor on July 16 in 1994. He also served now defunct Bangla daily Mukta Kantho as its editor.
Besides, he was involved with a couple of international media outlets. He was an editor of Manila-based Depth News, Bangladesh chapter and London-based Panos Feature Service.
Apart from journalism, Mr Rahman established himself as a writer. He authored a number of books including novels and auto biography.
He was born on September 12, 1939 in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.
