Journalist Minar Mahmud found dead at city hotel

Journalist Minar Mahmud was found dead at Dhaka Regency Hotel in city's Khilkhet area on Thursday, reports UNB.
A team of Khilkhet police recovered the body of Minar Mahmud, former editor of Weekly Bichinta, from a room of the hotel at about 6:00pm.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner (Gulshan Division) of Police Lutful Kabir confirmed it, saying that a six-page note was found on the bed of the hotel room.
He resigned from daily Prattasha recently. He committed suicide as he was frustrated. None was responsible for his death, said a police officer quoting the note.
He might have taken sleeping pills as a number of covers of tablets were seen in scattered condition besides the body, said the police officer.
Minar checked in a room located on the sixth floor of the hotel Wednesday morning. As he did not respond from inside the room till Thursday afternoon, the hotel authorities informed Khilkhet police.
Police later went to the hotel and recovered the body.
