Journalist Shamsur Rahman remembered

JESSORE, July 16: Late journalist Shamsur Rahman was remembetred through several programmes on Wednesday marking his 14th death anniversary.
The programmes included placing of floral wreaths at his grave, wearing black badges, discussions and Doa and Iftar mahfil.
On July 16, 2000, Shamsur Rahman, a special correspondent of Dainik Janakantha and a stringer of BBC Bangla Service, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his office at Daratana in the town. The incident took place around 8:10 pm on the day.
The incident spurred movement particularly of the journalists in Jessore and also across the country.
To mark the day Jessore Press Club, Journalists Union of Jessore and Jessore Journalists Union placed wreaths at his grave, held discussion meeting prayer session and Iftar mahfil. His family and village people also held separate programmes.
