Journalist Zahirul Haque passes away

Noted journalist and ex-Director General of the External Publicity Wing of Foreign Ministry Zahirul Haque passed away in the city Sunday morning. He was 59, reports UNB.
Haque died of cardiac arrest at 11:30 am while he was being taken to the city's Ibne Sina Hospital.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, a son and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Haque worked as city editor in Daily Janakantha and as chief reporter in now defunct Dainik Bangla.
Haque was also elected president of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) in 1990-91 and 1991-92.
