Journalists demand Nikhil's treatment abroad

Leaders of different journalist organisations Sunday urged the government to send abroad senior reporter of the Bangla daily Kaler Kantha, Nikhil Bhadra, who suffered serious injuries in a road accident, within 72 hours for better treatment, reports BSS.
They also said that they would go for movement if Nikhil is not sent abroad for treatment from a human chain that turned into a rally in front of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) organised by Khulna Divisional Journalists' Association, Dhaka.
Chaired by organisation convenor Madhusudan Mondal, the rally was also addressed by former president of JPC and English daily News Today Editor Riazuddin Ahmed, Secretary General of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, ex-JPC president and BFUJ Secretary General Shawkat Mahmud, ex- BFUJ Secretary General Altaf Mahmud, ex-joint secretary Saiful Islam Talukder, ex-secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Omar Faruk and ex-secretary of Dhaka Reporters' Unity Shahed Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
The journalist leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of illegal bus stop from in front of the JPC and exemplary punishment to the driver of the bus who caused the accident.
Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Major General (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Bir Pratik, expressed solidarity with the rally.
