Journo leaders slate social welfare minister\\\'s remarks

Monday, 11 August 2014

The journalist community strongly condemned Sunday Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali's remarks about newsmen, reports BSS.
In a statement, leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and journalist unions in Chittagong, Khulna, Rajshahi, Bogra, Dinajpur, Jessore, Narayanganj, Mymensingh and Cox's Bazar urged the minister to withdraw his remarks and seek apology.
The leaders, including BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, General Secretary Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, DUJ President Altaf Mahmud and General Secretary Quddus Afrad, said Syed Mohsin Ali is continuously making provocative statements about the journalist community and mass media.
His utterances, statements and body language have made questionable his education, taste, politics and family culture, they observed.
The exposure of such a low-level attitude of a minister has demeaned the image of the entire government and the cabinet, they said and expressed the hope that the government high-ups would certainly realise that a minister of this quality, in no way, would enhance the dignity of the government or the cabinet.
