Joy off to Rangpur

Sajeeb Wazed Joy has started for his mother Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s constituency Rangpur on a two-day visit. Joy would address a rally organised by the local Awami League at the Rangpur Zila School ground on Sunday afternoon. He would celebrate the birth anniversary of his maternal grandfather Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with local leaders on Monday. Joy left for Syedpur from Dhaka by air around 11.30am today, said the prime minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan. From Syedpur, he would go to Rangpur by road. The AL’s Rangpur district unit leaders have made all preparations for the rally which is scheduled for 3pm. After the rally, Joy would visit his father’s ancestral home in Fatehpur village at Peerganj upazila in Rangpur district, Khokan said. He would offer prayers at his father’s grave and hold discussions with local AL leaders and activists there. Joy would spend the night at his father’s home ‘Joy Sadan’. On Monday, he would attend various programmes in Rangpur marking the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children’s Day. Joy is expected to return to Dhaka on Monday night, according to bdnews24.com.
