Joydebpur stationmaster assaulted

The stationmaster of Joydebpur Railway Station was assaulted by extortionists at his office on Tuesday evening. Dadan Mia, sub-inspector of Joydebpur Government Railway Police (GRP) Station, said local miscreants had an altercation with stationmaster Ziauddin Sarder over extorting money from shops in the station area. Later, a group of 2-3 miscreants stormed into the stationmaster’s office and assaulted him around 7:30pm. Agitated by the incident, the employees of station halted the train service from the station, leaving Rajshahi-bound ‘Chitra Express’ from Dhaka stranded for two hours. The situation returned to normalcy around 9:30pm, according to a news agency.
