Joynal Hazari gets bail in graft case

Friday, 22 August 2014

NOAKHALI, Aug 21 (UNB): A local court Thursday granted bail to former Awami League (AL) MP from Feni-2 constituency Joynal Hazari in a money-laundering case.
Judge Shirin Kabita Akhter of the Special Judge Court of Noakhali passed the order when the sacked AL leader surrendered before the court seeking bail.
Earlier Wednesday, the same court issued a warrant for the arrest of the former MP as he did not turn up during the scheduled hearing of the case filed by the now-defunct Bureau of Anti Corruption in 2003.
Hazari appeared before the court in the morning apparently to evade arrest in the case.
Later, the court granted bail to him on a surety of Tk 40,000.
The case was filed with Feni Sadar Police Station against Hazari and some officials of Feni branch of United Commercial Bank Ltd on charge of laundering around Tk 70 million.
