JP joined polls to protect constitution: Raushan

Justifying her party’s decision of joining the 10th parliamentary elections, opposition leader Raushan Ershad said in Mymensingh on Saturday that Jatiya Party (JP) took part in the polls to help protect the constitution and continue the democratic process. “We’ve played the due role by participating in the polls. People also spontaneously responded to our call for joining the elections,” she said. Raushan made the remarks at a mass-reception programme accorded to her by Jatiya Party on the premises of Mymensingh Model Town.  Party secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawlader MP, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, state minister for LGRD Moshiur Rahman Ranga and opposition chief whip Tajul Islam were, among others, present, according to a news agency.
