The Jatiya Party has walked out of Parliament to press its demand for the removal of Biman Bangladesh Airlines chairman for involvement of the national flag carrier officials in gold smuggling.
During the unscheduled discussions Sunday, Opposition MPs held Biman board of director Chairman Jamal Uddin Ahmed responsible for the mismanagement of the state-owned airline and demanded his removal.
At one stage, Kazi Feroz Rashid wanted to know from Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon if the Biman chairman would be removed.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, who was conducting the session, advised him to give notice as per the Rules of Procedure and gave Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal MP Mainuddin Khan Badal the floor. Opposition MPs then walked out of the session led by Rashid.
They, however, came back after five minutes, according to a news agency.
