JS body first meet held

The first meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children's Affairs was held Tuesday in the cabinet room of the Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Meher Afroz in the chair, reports BSS.
Members of the committee discussed elaborately the activities of Women Affairs Department, Jatiya Mahila Sangstha and Bangladesh Shishu Academy under the ministry.
The meeting underlined the need for taking proper initiatives to implement the objective of the government for empowerment of women and ensuring child rights.
Committee members Mohammad Sirajul Akbar, Prof Dr MA Mannan, Rebeka Momin and Sultana Tarun attended the meeting. Dr Shirin Shermin Chowdhury was present on behalf of the Prime Minister.
