JS body for alternative to MCQ in BCS exam

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration Ministry on Tuesday suggested looking for an alternative merit-based system to MCQ in the BCS preliminary examination. The committee also stressed the need for giving importance to articulately incorporate some issues in the Civil Service Act. The issues include keeping quota system at a minimum level in recruitment and promotion, introducing a comprehensive insurance system, giving promotion based on competence and examination results and ensuring job security. The recommendations came up at the committee’s third meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman HN Ashequr Rahman in the chair, according to a news agency.
