JS body for annulment of allotments

The Parliamentary Standing Committees on Railways and Information ministries made a number of recommendations at their meetings in the city on Thursday, report agencies.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways Ministry at its meeting on Thursday recommended the ministry to cancel the allocations of those railway lands where the allotment takers violated the conditions by not constructing CNG filling stations.
Chaired by Standing Committee Chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, the meeting was also attended by Railways Minister Md Mazibul Hoque, Standing Committee members Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, M Ali Asgar, Yasin Ali and Fatema Zohora Rani.
At the meeting, the Committee has suggested removing differences in the colours of trains and using quality paints while painting the trains.
It has also recommended the ministry to seek cooperation from local members of parliaments for conducting regular drives to evict illegal establishments on railway lands.
In another meeting, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry suggested measures to make movies on subjects like garments, human resources, fisheries and leather sectors where economical achievements have already been attained.
The body also recommended making films on the true spirit of liberation war, which was turned into another direction after 1975.
With its President AKM Rahmatullah in the chair, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and Sukumar Ranjan Gosh, among others, were present at the meeting.
The meeting also suggested reshuffling of all the organisations under the Information Ministry with a view to running those properly. It further sought specific opinions from the members of the JS body in making standard programmes to meet the demand of the people.
