JS body for appointing OMS dealer in every union

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food and Disaster Management Ministry has recommended appointing one dealer for Open Market Sale (OMS) in every union to keep price of food grain affordable, reports UNB. The recommendation came from the committee's 22nd meeting, held at the Sangsad Bhaban Thursday with Mohammad Sayedul Haque in the chair. The meeting also recommended strengthening the OMS programme and activities of the vigilance team all over the country. It was informed in the meeting that at present, there is a stock of 900,000 tonnes of food grains in the government warehouses. Committee members - Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, M Atiur Rahman Atiq, Narayan Chandra Chanda, M Mozahar Ali Prodhan and M Akram Hossain - attended the meeting.
