JS body for area-wise industrial policy

The parliamentary standing committee on the industries ministry suggested on Sunday formulating an area-wise industrial policy.
The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) committee also recommended gas connections to areas under the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).
It suggested taking necessary steps to develop skilled manpower by providing training through the training institutes under the industries ministry.
The recommendations came at the 9th meeting of the committee at the parliament building.
Committee chairman Omar Faruq Chowdhury chaired the meeting.
Other committee members Abdur Razzaq and Abul Kalam Md Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury also attended the meeting.
In another meeting the parliamentary standing committee on the agriculture ministry recommended tax and duty on rice export and import and solve the problem of lower prices for paddy.
The committee also suggested taking necessary steps to extend the time for wheat procurement by the government and pay fair prices to the farmers and provide incentives to them for agricultural production.
The recommendations came at the 8th meeting of the committee at the parliament building. Committee chairman Maqbul Hossain chaired the meeting.
The committee also suggested adjustment of prices under Test Relief (TR) and Food for Work programmes with the market prices. It asked the ministry to present accurate information on rice and wheat production in the next meeting.
