JS body for ascertaining exact circulation of newspapers

A parliamentary body recommended formulation of a strong policy for Audit Bureau Circulation to figure out the exact circulation of newspapers.
The parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry in its 18th meeting asked the authority concerned to take necessary steps to popularise the state-run television channel BTV through quality programmes and improving the quality of its news.
The meeting was held at Sangsad Bhaban Wednes-day, reports UNB.
The parliamentary watchdog discussed the activities of the Press Council and underscored the need for amendment to Press Council Act in conformity with the needs of the era.
The meeting also discussed the overall activities of Department of Films and Publications.
Committee member and Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Shahin Monowara Haque, Reza Ali, Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh, BM Mozammel Haque, Anisul Islam Mondol and M Shahriar Alam attended the meeting, which was chaired by the Committee Chairman Obaidul Quader.
