JS body for raising age limit to 35 for civil service

Thursday, 28 June 2018

A parliamentary watchdog on Wednesday recommended raising the age limit for entry into the civil service to 35 years from the existing 30, reports UNB.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration Ministry came up with the suggestion from a meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman HN Ashequr Rahman in the chair.
The JS body's recommendation came as job-seekers and students of universities and colleges have long been demanding that the age limit be raised claiming that the rate of unemployment is on the rise due to the current age limit of 30 years.
The committee also suggested revoking the appointment of teachers centrally through the Non-Government Teacher Registration and Certificate Authority (NTRCA) and rather appointing them locally through managing bodies.
Committee members ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Mustafa Lutfullah, RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, M Abdullah and Khorshed Ara Haque attended the meeting.
