The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence Ministry on Monday lauded the three forces -- Army, Navy and Air -- for their contributions to infrastructure development, rehabilitation and other services. The JS body also expressed satisfaction as the armed forces got a significant number of weapons of war, ships, units, army bases and establishments since 2009 due to the government’s cordial support. The meeting was told that a total of 1,13,258 members of the armed forces so far took part in UN peacekeeping missions, while 7083 are currently engaged in nine UN peacekeeping missions in nine countries, according to a news agency.
