A delegation of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry led by its Chairman Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam, visited the site of the under-construction Payra seaport, that will be the 3rd of the country, reports BSS.
The other members of the delegation of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) were members of the committee Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, Anwarul Azim, Advocate Nurul Islam Suja, Abdul Khaleq Talukdar and Advocate Momtaz.
Rafiqul Islam told the news agency that the Payra seaport has great potential as it has an adequate area to accommodate four to five ships at a time. "The depth of the water is eight metres and in some areas it is 10 metres. For that any ship can enter the port area easily," he said.
Shahjahan Khan said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had chosen the right place for building the third seaport.
