JS body to raise honorariums of Shilpakala Academy artistes, trainers

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs Ministry Thursday decided in principle to reconstitute the existing committee on sending artistes abroad and to enhance honoraria for artistes and trainers of Shilpakala Academy, reports BSS.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the standing committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee Chairman Kazi Keramat Ali presiding.
The meeting discussed filling up the vacant posts in different offices, departments and directorates under the cultural affairs ministry and the progress of the construction of district Shilpakala Academy buildings.
The meeting asked the authorities concerned to expedite construction of the administrative building of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Committee members Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad, Manoranjan Sheel Gopal, Advocate Tarana Halim, Mamtaz Begum, Mahfuza Mandal and Nilufar Chowdhury attended the meeting.
Cultural Affairs Secretary M Sharful Alam and officials concerned were also present at the meeting.
