JS passes BMDA Bill 2018

Thursday, 13 September 2018

Parliament passed the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Bill, 2018 Wednesday, reports UNB.
Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury moved the Bill in the parliament aiming at expanding Barind area's territory and giving it a legal structure.
According to the proposed law entire Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions will come under the BMDA instead of only greater Rajshahi's four districts- Rajshahi, Bogura, Rangpur and Dinajpur districts.
There will also be an 11-member board of directors with Chairman of the authority as its Chairman and the board will accomplish its day-to-day works.
The BMDA has so far been running by a resolution as there was no law in this regard.
