JS power to impeach judges: Judiciary to lose head: BNP

BNP on Monday warned that the judiciary will lose its head and effectiveness if parliament’s power to impeach judges is restored. “It’ll be tantamount to beheading the judiciary if parliament’s power to impeach judges is restored. It’ll also contribute to spate of killing, enforced disappearances, rape and other heinous crimes,” said senior BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy. He was addressing a discussion titled ‘The Process of Impeachment of Judges and the Judiciary’ at the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Democratic Movement, according to a news agency.
