BOGRA, Nov 14: Joint partnership between the police and the community can bring successful community policing in the country.
The opinion was expressed at a discussion on 'Divisional Community Consultation on Community Policing' here on Tuesday.
Rajshahi Range DIG AKM Shahidul Hoque chaired the discussion while National Project Director of Police Reform Programme (PRP) and Additional Inspector General of Police NBK Tripura was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
Also present at the discussion were Kumar Koirala, Mark Weston Wall, acting superintendent of police Moinul Hoque, Fazlur Rahman Paikar, Mostafizur Rahman Khan, Mahfuzara Niva and Abdus Salam.
Bangladesh Police's commitment was towards providing professional police service through community based policing, Tripura said.
He expressed the hope that community policing could be an essential part of the police reform to prevent crime throughout the country.
He urged the police officers to be more open minded, unbiased and sensitive toward community policing so that the community could receive the best possible police services and can actively participate in solving community needs in partnership with the police.
Interested persons, students, teachers, lawyers, media professionals, representatives from local service provider clubs like Lions, Rotary etc., religious leaders, business community leaders, NGO workers, union parishad and ward commissioners, women representatives, village police and police officers took part in the discussion.
