China, Taiwan and Bangladesh will invest $10.00 million to establish a zipper industry, named Shepherd Asia Zipper Limited (SAZL), in Comilla Export Processing Zone (CEPZ).
A lease agreement to this effect was signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and SAZL in the city recently. BEPZA Member (Investment Promotion) Prasanta Bhushan Barua and SAZL Sales Director Shue Ming Chung signed the lease agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Among others, BEPZA Executive Chairman Ashraf Abdullah Yussuf, Member (Engineering) Md Farhad Uddin, Member (Finance) AKM Mahbubur Rahman, General Manager (Investment Promotion) AZM Azizur Rahman, Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir and Manager (Industrial Relations) Md Abdus Sobhan along with Shepherd Group Director Neaz Ahmed Bhuiyan were also present at the signing ceremony.
This joint venture company will annually manufacture 3.75 million dozens of metal zipper and 1.25 million dozens of nylon zipper. It will also create employment opportunity for 132 Bangladeshis and two foreign nationals.
