JU renames four halls
Their names were linked to Sheikh family

The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authority officially renamed four residential halls, previously linked to Sheikh Hasina and her family members. The decision was finalised at a Syndicate meeting on Friday, confirmed Acting Registrar A B M Azizur Rahman.
According to the decision, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall has been renamed as Sher-e-Bangla A K Fazlul Haq Hall, and Sheikh Russel Hall as Nawab Salimullah Hall.
Besides, Sheikh Hasina Hall has been renamed July 24 Jagoroni Hall, commemorating the student-led mass uprising of 2024.
In addition, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall has been renamed Fellani Khatun Hall, honouring the teenage Bangladeshi girl whose death at the India-Bangladesh border drew widespread national and international condemnation.
