JU students barricade Dhaka- Aricha highway

Students of Jahangirnagar University, demanding that chief adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed step down, have barricaded the Dhaka-Aricha highway since Wednesday morning. The agitating students also burnt an effigy of law adviser barrister Mainul Hosein while demanding the lifting of the state of emergency. Earlier at 10:00 am, students from different dormitories brought out processions and approached the Dairy Farm gate, but police stopped them, following which, a clash ensued leaving proctor Syed Kamrul Ahsan and 20 students and journalists injured.
