Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) held a human chain programme on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway on Thursday to protest against the Israeli aggression in Palestine and show solidarity with the Palestinian freedom fighters.
They also, following a short rally, brought out a protest march from the main gate of the university at 3pm.
During the demonstration, the protesting students held placards with messages such as 'Free Palestine,' 'We Stand with Palestine,' 'Jerusalem Belongs to Palestine,' and 'Stop Genocide in Gaza.'
Besides, they chanted slogans like 'Israel is a terrorist,' 'Intifada,' and 'LabbaikYa Aqsa.'
Moshiur Saad, a student of the Bangla Department, said, "Israel, the occupier, is planning to occupy our first Kibla. As Muslims, our hearts are bleeding. Western media is calling it the War in Israel. They want Muslims out of Gaza forever and take over our first Kibla. Even as Muslims, we cannot help them. We express our condolences through today's protest march."
Zubair Hossain, a student of the Department of Anthropology, said, "We Muslims believe in one ideal wherever we live. If a Muslim in any part of the world is affected, we think our whole community is affected. From today's protest, we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian freedom movement from Jahangirnagar."
