Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the student wing of BNP, will stage nationwide demonstrations on Saturday protesting issuance of an arrest warrant against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman for his insulting remarks on Bangabandhu. The programme was announced by Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal central leaders in the city on Friday. As part of the programme, the activists of the BNP’s student wing will hold protest rallies and bring out processions in divisional cities, district towns and municipalities across the country today. On Thursday, metropolitan magistrate, Dhaka, Mohammad Yunus Khan issued a warrant of arrest against Tarique Rahman, also the elder son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, in a libel suit filed against him for terming Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a ‘top Razakar’. On December 15, Tarique Rahman, who is living in United Kingdom since his release from prison in Dhaka on September 3, 2008, called Sheikh Mujib ‘Razakar’ while speaking at a discussion at The Atrium in East London marking the 44th Victory Day of Bangladesh. Earlier, the BNP leader called Bangabandhu ‘Pak Bandhu’ while addressing another programme in London, according to a news agency.
