Jubo League leader chopped to death, another injured

A local leader of Jubo League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, was chopped to death and another one was injured in Bogra town on Thursday night. The dead is Golam Hafiz Likhon, 40, vice-president of Jubo League Bogra town unit. Police and witnesses said when Likhon and his bother-in-law Ataur Rahman Milu, a local Swechhasebok League leader, went to Chaklokmapara in the district headquarters, a group of local people caught them and confined them to a house. The agitated people set fire to their motorbike. They chopped Milu with sharp weapons, leaving him injured critically but Likhon managed to escape. Milu was admitted to a local hospital. Later, over 200 people attacked Likhon’s house around 8:30pm. They vandalised the house and set fire to it. They also caught Likhon and hacked him to death. On information police recovered Likhon’s chopped body from near Koratoa River, according to a news agency.
