Jubo League leader killed in Jessore

JESSORE, April 20: A leader of the district unit of Jubo League, youth wing of the ruling party Awami League, was shot dead by some miscreants in Laldighi area of the town Monday night.
The victim was identified as Kamruzzaman Ripon alias Banshi Ripon (33), also the district unit joint convener of Jubo League. A resident of Puratan Kashba in the town, Ripon was a follower of Shahin Chaklader, general secretary of Jessore district unit Awami League and also chairman of Jessore Sadar Upazila.
Police and eye witnesses said a group of assailants led by terror Farid shot and threw several hand bombs at Ripon while he was having tea at a stall at around 9:00pm Monday. He was taken to Jessore General Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
Mohibul Haq, deputy commissioner (DC), Jessore, Ali Reza Raju, former lawmaker and also the president of Jessore district unit Awami League, Shahin Chaklader and police officials went to the spot and the hospital soon after the incident.
The police arrested four persons in this connection.
