Wednesday, 18 June 2014

A third bench of the High Court (HC) on Wednesday started hearing on two writ petitions filed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging the legality of the appointment of a special judge who framed charges against her in the Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases. The HC single-judge bench of Justice Dr Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque deferred the hearing to Thursday after Wednesday’s proceedings. Former Attorney General AJ Mohammad Ali, Supreme Court Bar Association president Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and Advocate Mohammad Asaduzzaman, among others, appeared for Khaleda during Wednesday’s hearing, according to a news agency.
