Judges should render duties with integrity: Law Adviser
Wednesday, 4 June 2008
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser AF Hassan Ariff said Tuesday the judges should render their duties with integrity and transparency without any fear to reap the benefit of separation of judiciary, which was the expectation of the whole nation, reports UNB.
He made the remark while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-week basic training course for the newly appointed assistant judges and judicial magistrates at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the city.
Director General of the Institute Justice Hamidul Hoque presided over the function.
The law adviser said that the judges must be aware so that in future no one could comment negatively about the separate judicial system. Otherwise, the situation would be humiliating for the nation.
He called upon the new judges to acquire sufficient knowledge about the prevailing laws in Bangladesh.
Mr Ariff said, "The success of this will depend upon the performance of the judges. Present law has given this department sufficient power and independence. It is now the main responsibility of all to uphold its image."
