Political parties are now scheduled to sign the July Charter, also known as the National Charter, on Oct 17, two days later than initially planned.
The Chief Advisor's Office announced the revised date in a statement on Saturday, citing the need to hold the event on a weekend to ensure broader public participation, reports bdnews24.com.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission presided over by Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, held at the State Guest House Jamuna.
After the discussion, commission Vice-Chairman Ali Riaz said the ceremony would be held on Friday afternoon at the South Plaza of the parliament.
Earlier, the commission had said the signing of the Charter, which outlines commitments to state reform and implementation, would take place on Oct 15.
The meeting also decided that representatives from political parties and alliances would take part in the ceremony. Invitations will also be sent to members of different professional and social groups.
Present at the session were commission member Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Monir Haider, special assistant to the chief adviser.
