Justice Marzi-ul Huq passes away

Former justice of Supreme Court of Bangladesh Marzi-ul Haque died of a heart attack at his Dhanmandi residence Saturday, reports BSS. He was 68. Family sources said doctors pronounced him dead as Marzi-ul Haque was rushed to Square Hospitals after he complained chest pain in the morning. He left behind his wife and two daughters to mourn his death. His younger sister journalist AN Mahfuza Khatun Baby Moudud, MP said he would be buried at Azimpur Graveyard after namaj-e-janaza at Dhanmandi Eidgah Maidan. Marzi-ul Haque, son of well-known High Court judge in the then Pakistan Justice Abdul Moudud, made his debut in the profession joining the lower judiciary as served as a district judge and later as registrar of the Supreme Court. He eventually was inducted as a judge in the High Court division of the Supreme Court from where he retired last year. UNB report adds: Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina Saturday expressed deep shock at the death of justice Marzi-ul Haque. In a condolence message, the PM recalled his invaluable contribution to the judiciary. The nation has lost a talented son at his death, she said. Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
