Justice Rezaul Hasan resigns from HC

Justice Md Rezaul Hasan, a senior judge of the High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court (SC), has submitted his resignation letter amid an investigation by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) into allegations of corruption against him.
He tendered his resignation to the Chief Justice (CJ) on Tuesday, citing personal reasons. The letter was subsequently forwarded to the President, confirmed Md Shafiqul Islam, Public Relations Officer of the SC. He said the SJC had been conducting an investigation into corruption allegations against the judge.
The SJC, comprising the CJ and the two next senior-most judges of the Appellate Division of the SC, is responsible for investigating allegations of serious professional misconduct against judges and taking punitive action where necessary.
