Jute cultivation exceeding target in Gopalganj

GOPALGANJ, June 28: The jute cultivation of Gopalganj district exceeded the target during the current year, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said.
A total of 20,735 hectares of land have been brought under cultivation with a production target of 2,28,085 bales.
According to official reports, in Gopalganj Sadar upazila 4,320 hectares, Muksudpur Upazila 8,770 hectares, Kasiani Upazila 5,600 hectares, Kotalipara Upazila 1,065 hectares and Tungipara Upazila 980 hectares of land have been brought under jute cultivation.
Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Gopalganj has distributed necessary seeds among the farmers for cultivation to implement the programme by the appropriate time.
Biplob Kumar Saha, DD Agriculture of Gopalganj said, the farmers of the district got jute seeds and other facilities from agriculture department and they arranged irrigation management in time.
