Jute farming thru latest technologies stressed

GAIBANDHA, May 17 (BSS): Experts in a function here yesterday stressed the need for farming jute and its expansion in larger scale through adopting latest technologies to take the agri-sector ahead further for country's economic emancipation.
"The farmers can get maximum output against high yielding variety jute, and quality seed side by side with rotting jute plants amid water shortage if they systematically apply the latest technologies in lieu of traditional ones", they said.
They made the comments while addressing a day long training workshop on jute farming in modern technologies, producing jute seed, rotting jute plants and grading of jute for the ideal jute cultivators at the auditorium of Sadullapur Upazila Parishad hall in the district on Saturday.
'Production of high yielding variety jute and jute seed and improved jute plants rotting' project of the directorate of jute under the Ministry of Jute and Textile organised the workshop in association with Upazila jute office, Upazila agriculture office and Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI).
Deputy Director of department of agriculture extension M. Aminul Islam attended the workshop as the chief guest while acting UNO Mazharul Islam presided over the function.
