Jute mill worker shot dead in Jessore

A jute mill worker was shot to death by some miscreants at Barandipara in Sadar upazila of Jessore on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Hafizur Rahman, 22, a worker of Ahad Jute Mills and son of Abdul Mannan alias Manu Miah of Jhumjhumpur in the upazila. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said a scuffle took place between two groups of workers over establishing supremacy at Ahad Jute Mills in the morning. Following the incident, some miscreants shot Hafizur from behind when he reached Barandipara Bridge area around 1:45pm, leaving him dead on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy, according to UNB.
