Jute price all-time high in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Jan 10: Jute is selling at all-time high price in Nilphamari district rural markets is now being sold at Tk 1,600 per maund. But the farmers are not getting any benefit from such price rise because they have already exhausted most of their stock of jute.
Some middlemen are being benefited and they are doing brisk business this year.
Sources said during the peak season jute selling by the growers the price was between Tk 600 to Tk 800 per maund.
According to DAE sources, this year, the target of jute cultivation was 11,450 hectares of land with the production of 120,880 bales. Both the targets had been achieved.
