Juvenile courts can help to protect child rights: Gowher

Advisor to the Prime Minister for International Affairs Dr Gowher Rizvi on Friday said juvenile courts should be set up in all districts for establishing juvenile justice system throughout the country to protect children's rights. ‘It is urgent to set up juvenile courts at district levels for protecting child rights through establishment of a child-oriented juvenile justice system in the country,’ he told a seminar on ‘Equity and Justice in Society: Protecting rights of children’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre(BICC) in Dhaka. Managing Director of PKSF Md Abdul Karim, officials, right activists, representatives of different non-government organizations, among others, took part in the open discussion with member of general body of PKSF Dr Bandana Saha in the chair. Executive Director of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association Advocate Salma Ali and Executive Director of United Development Initiative for Programme Actions Md Emranul Haque Chowdhury presented two keynote papers separately, according to a news agency.
