Kacchi Express in Ctg fined Tk 0.11m

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 02: The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined Kacchi Express, a restaurant located at GEC Circle in the port-city, Tk 0.11million (1.10 lakh) for using unauthorised and harmful chemical as well as date expired spices in cooking biryani and storing it in unhygienic condition.
The drive was conducted on Wednesday, led by Mohammad Faiz Ullah, deputy director of DNCRP Chattogram divisional office, and assistant directors Nasreen Akhtar, Rana Deb Nath, and Md. Anisur Rahman. It also fined Tk 20,000 to Flavors Premium Sweets & Bakers at GEC Circle and Tk 10,000 to Maulana Pharmacy at Kathgarh in Patenga.
Faiz Ullah said Kacchi Express was using expired spices and harmful chemicals, and storing stale biryani in unhygienic condition.
"Flavors Premium Sweets & Bakers was found attempting to sell expired confectionery items by altering the production and expiry date stickers on the packaging. For this violation, it was fined Tk. 20,000."
"Maulana Pharmacy was penalized Tk 10,000 for keeping a large stock of expired medicines," he added.
The drive concluded with warnings to the establishments to avoid such offences in the future.
