KAFCO earns $79.8m net profit

Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company (KAFCO) Limited earned a post-tax net profit of $79.8 million reflecting higher fertiliser prices in the global market and an excellent performance of company plants comparable to the best in the region.
This was disclosed at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the company held recently.
Government received a dividend of about $32 million during the accounting year that ended on July 31, 2007.
The company paid on average gas price of $2.85 per MSCF during the year under review and supplied 55 per cent of its urea production to BCIC to help meet local demand and save a substantial amount of foreign exchange.
