Kalam leaves Dhaka after joining MCCI\\\'s founding anniv programme

India's former President APJ Abdul Kalam left here for home on Saturday after attending a programme, organised by Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka, on the occasion of its 110th founding anniversary. A Jet Airways flight carrying Abdul Kalam, also an internationally-acclaimed nuclear scientist, left Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at 5:20pm. He reached Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) Airport in Kurmitola by a limo amid foolproof security. The inspirational scientist, who turned 83 on Wednesday, arrived in Dhaka on Friday on a 2-day visit on the invitation of the MCCI. On the 1st day of his stay here, he joined a programme as the chief guest. At the programme, he interacted with students of private and public universities in a jam-packed hall room at a city hotel for an hour. Born on Oct 15, 1931 in a small town of Tamil Nadu, he served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. The MCCI staged a gala event on Saturday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre to round off the 2-day celebration marking its 110 years, report agencies.
