Kaspersky warns of fake World Cup websites targeting fans
Monday, 29 June 2026
Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has detected 336 fake websites impersonating official World Cup platforms since the tournament began on June 11, warning football fans to remain vigilant online.
The company said scammers are using fraudulent streaming services, betting sites and phishing emails to steal money and personal information.
One common scam promises free match streaming before demanding cryptocurrency payments for fake lifetime access. Fraudulent betting websites also collect personal details, increasing the risk of credential theft and financial fraud.
Olga Altukhova, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky, said cybercriminals were increasingly exploiting the ways fans watch and engage with the tournament online.
Kaspersky advised users to rely on official broadcasters, verify website addresses carefully, enable multi-factor authentication and use trusted security software to detect phishing attempts.
