Kayes, Ariful hit centuries in Mohammedan's big win

Imrul Kayes and Ariful Islam hit centuries as Mohammedan Sporting Club registered their second successive victory in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), thrashing Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 84 runs at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Friday, reports BSS.
Opener Kayes struck 106 off 127 with 10 fours and two sixes while Ariful hammered 106 ball-115 not out, clattering nine fours and four sixes as Mohammedan compiled 266-5 after being sent to bat first.
Ariful and Kayes shared 176-run partnership for the fourth wicket to lay a solid platform for the side after they were reduced to a precarious 52-3. In reply, Rupganj Tigers were restricted to 182-9 with Mahfijul Islam Robin hitting highest 78.
Pacer Abu Haider Rony dismantled Rupganj batting line up with 4-30 in 10 overs. Offspinner Nayeem Hasan complimented him with even more economical bowling as his figure read 10-2-18-3.
Legends of Rupganj also secured its second straight victory, beating City Club by five wickets at BKSP-3 ground.
Put into bat first, City Club were bowled out for paltry 187 in 46.2 overs with opener Sadikur Rahman battling lonely to make 96. Abdul Halim and Alauddin Babu took four wickets apiece for Legends. Opener Shadman Islam hit an unbeaten 91 as Legends overhauled the target in 37.1 overs, losing five wickets. Gazi Group Cricketers eased past Partex Cricket Club by five wickets for its second victory in a row in the day's other match at BKSP-4 ground.
