Kazi Ghiyasuddin gets 'Order of the Rising Sun' Award

Kazi Ghiyasuddin has received 'The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays' from the Japanese government in recognition of his contribution to strengthening cultural exchange through promoting modern art in Japan and Bangladesh.
According to a press release issued by the Japanese Embassy on Sunday, the government of Japan announced the names of foreign recipients of 2018 Spring Imperial Decorations on April 29. Kazi Ghiyasuddin received the award among 140 recipients.
Mr Ghiyasuddin was the first Bangladeshi to receive a doctoral degree in fine arts from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts in 1985, and one of the accomplished painters who have made contributions to the Japanese contemporary arts.
His works, representing the tradition and climate of Bengal, attract a lot of famous Japanese art critics and various artists. Moreover, many young Bangladeshi artists have been influenced by his works and studied in Japan.
