KCC makes record earning from cattle market

KHULNA, Nov 10: Khulna City Corporation has scored a record revenue earning from the only makeshift cattle market of the city this year. KCC has earned Tk. 10.65 million against selling 6,512 cows, 1,680 goats and 4 sheeps from city's Joragate cattle market, Tk. 9.58 million was collected last year from the market.
Revenue officer of KCC Moniruzzaman said that the cattle market started at Joragate from October 31 and continued till on Eid day. The revenue from selling cattle has been realized through computerized money receipt like previous year and no irregularities were found there, he added.
The Revenue officer also said earlier KCC has called tender for three times to lease out the cattle market. But no schedule was submitted and for this reason KCC decided to conduct the cattle market by the own management.
Fishing nets recovered
Sharonkhola coast guard recovered 37000 metres of nets (current) worth about Tk. 2.1 million from different areas of Baleswar river on Tuesday.0
Sharonkhola camp source said that the Coast guard conducted a drive from Sharonkhola to Baliapara in Baleswar river and seized huge band fishing nets that were set up in different places of the river.
Sources said that the fishermen took shelter at a short distance after setting up nets in the river and fled away after sensing the presence of coast guard.
