KCC selects 43 spots for slaughtering animals

KHULNA, Sept 8 (BSS): The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has fixed 43 spots in the city for slaughtering sacrificial animals and requested the dwellers to use those spots during the Eid-ul-Azha.
"Initially 43 spots have been fixed in the KCC area for slaughtering sacrificial animals. The number may rise, but no one will be forced to use those fixed spots," said Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, senior veterinary surgeon of KCC on Tuesday.
"A campaign will be launched seven days before the Eid for raising awareness on slaughtering sacrificial animals at the designated spots in the city. The KCC councilors will also run campaign," he said, adding that religious leaders of all mosques will also run campaign during 'Khutba' at Jumma prayer before the Eid.
The designated places will have butchers, cleaning staff as well as an 'Imam' to conduct the slaughtering of sacrificial animals on the Eid day.
The Chief Executive Officer of KCC Md. Abdul Hannan Biswas told the news agency, as per direction of Local Government Division we are taking preparations for slaughtering sacrificial animals at all the fixed spots in 31 wards in KCC.
KCC staffs will be deployed for seven days from the Eid-ul Azha for cleaning purposes, he said.
He also requested the community leaders, public representatives and civil society leaders for creating awareness and motivating citizens to slaughters animals at KCC fixed places.
