FE Report
Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) has urged the government to keep the advance tax on export earnings unchanged at 0.25 per cent.
Terming budget proposal to raise the tax at source on export earning to 1.0 per cent from the existing 0.25 per cent 'suicidal', the BJMA in a press release Saturday such a decision will badly affect the country's export sectors.
BJMA Chairman Nazmul Haq, however, hailed the proposals for the revival of the country's jute sector.
He said providing support to the state-run jute mills alone will not resolve the problems of jute industry. The government should also give equal support to the private jute mills, he added
